As the basic tenet of EFT according to founder Gary Craig, is that ‘The cause of ALL negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system’, newcomers to EFT, will be taught to tap on just one side of the body, ie beginning of eyebrow, side of eyebrow, under eye, under nose, middle of chin, shoulder bone, under arm, and top of head.
However, the body’s energy system is made up of 14 meridians in total, all of these branching out into hundreds of tiny energetic pathways. And as we never really know exactly where a blockage or disruption is, and nor do we have to, to be successful, tapping bilaterally ie on both sides of the body with both hands at one time, is a form of turbo-tapping that will usually speed up the tapping process on an issue considerably.
For example: if you are tapping on the right side of the body, and say your disruption or blockage is on the left side of the body, the energetic vibration that you are sending is sure to be lessened by the length of its journey to the particular blockage.
However, by tapping on both sides, you are sending tiny little energetic vibrations down your body through all 14 of your meridians, and again up and around to the other side of your body. This allows for the maximum amount of energetic vibration to be passed along, as well as a speedier opening of that blocked meridian that is associated with that particular issue, wherever in the body it may be.
EFT will still work the unilateral way - however, why not try tapping bilaterally the next time you tap on an issue? Not only will it increase both your efficiency with getting to the blockage or disruption, but it will considerably cut down on the tapping time in collapsing an issue.
